Are Hoover Carpet Cleaners Really the Best?

With new technologies entering the home care market everyday, is it possible that Hoover carpet cleaners have been able to stay the best? Before we can answer that, let's take a quick look into the history of the company.

The Hoover company formed in Ohio in the year 1908 after W.H. Hoover bought a patent for a strange looking 'suction sweeper' and began producing them in his leather shop. The company began to take off when Hoover began selling his primitive Hoover carpet cleaner in local shops and began allowing store managers to become dealers.

Since then, the Hoover company has been the absolute leader in the carpet cleaning business. These machines have no doubt revolutionized the industry time and time again. Anytime that you go to use the side mounted hose on your vacuum cleaner, you have Hoover to thank. If you have ever used an upright vacuum cleaner with a 'self-propelled' feature, you also have Hoover to thank.

Many advancements have been introduced in Hoover home carpet machines. But, recently the company has hit some snags. In 2006, the Hoover company was sold to the China-based Techtronic Industries. Since then, they have seemed to lose their market dominance because of heavy competition from companies such as Dyson, Kirby and Dirt Devil. Strangely enough, all of these companies are actually owned by the same China-based company, Techtronic Industries, that now owns Hoover.

Make no mistake though, the company has not necessarily lost any quality over the years though. In late 2008, Hoover released a brand new line of cleaners called the 'Platinum Collection'. All of the Hoover models that are included in this new line feature 'windtunnel technology' that offers superior suction power.

Perhaps this new collection can help the company once again reclaim the top spot in the industry. But, we'll all have to wait and see. Until then, Hoover carpet cleaners are certainly not a bad investment in the least.
